New Semester

Long time no post. But that doesn't mean things have not been happening.

Last semester we met with Chancellor Brady Deaton and began to be a part of his agenda. He now has said that he sees MU moving beyond coal eventually. "Even as we cope with the problems associated with burning coal, economic realities and new technologies will determine the exact timetable for eliminating coal use. There is no doubt we will succeed." However that is vague and slow-moving, when we need to take action now to curb coal's harmful effects.

We also presented a plan for a task force within the Environmental and Sustainability Committee. They have not yet replied with a solid answer, but the response at the meeting was an overall positive one. More update will come on that.

This semester we see a lot of things happening. We will be having regular visibility events and are already planning larger events that will really help educate the campus and get closer to our goal.

Coming up will be announcements of our Energy Talk from a panel of experts on Missouri's renewable energy. Later in the semester when the weather clears up we will be doing an art installation during mountaintop removal week. More to come on everything soon. In the meantime, enjoy this comic video.
